South African Starlet Luther Singh Given Chance To Shine With Bafana

South African 19-year-old Luther Singh has been given a chance to shine for his national team after receiving a call-up to represent Bafana Bafana in upcoming friendly international matches this month.

Singh, a star player with the under-20 side that reached the semi-finals of the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in Zambia earlier this month, has been drafted into a 25-man squad for games against Angola and Guinea Bissau.

The teenager ended the tournament as the top scorer with four goals for Amajita, helping them to a fourth-place finish in Zambia.

His performances for the junior national side has earned him a place among the country’s best players in the senior squad.

Bafana will face Guinea-Bissau on Saturday, 25 March in an international friendly match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, before taking on Angola in a friendly match on Tuesday, 28 March at Buffalo City Stadium in East London.

Dream Bafana chance for Luther Singh

Stand-in coach Owen da Gama called up 25 players for the fixtures, and Singh is over the moon with his chance to shine on the international stage for his country.

“It’s been a busy six months. It’s a dream come true to play for Bafana. I never saw myself playing for Bafana at age 19. My target was 21,” admitted Singh, according to KickOff.

“But then again, I have worked hard, so I’m not surprised. I’ll get an opportunity to be with Keagan Dolly. There’s Thulani Serero as well. I have looked up to these players. Training with them will be a big thing for me,” added the starlet.

The talented South African features for Portuguese Primeira Liga side Braga, and will no doubt be on the radars of numerous European clubs after his excellent recent displays for his nation.
