Leicester City, Fenerbahce Monitoring Nigerian Midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo

Nigerian international midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo is a player of great interest for English Premier League club Leicester City and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

The current English champions and the dominant Turkish outfit are monitoring the CD Feirense player, who is doing well at the Portuguese club.

According to numerous reports within Turkey, the 21-year-old is a potential target for the Turks ahead of the end of season transfer market window, in which clubs attempt to strengthen their squads for the new campaign.

While Leicester are still fighting a relegation battle in the EPL, the background work is being done to bring in some additional talent at the end of the 2016-17 season, with management confident that the team can remain in the lucrative top-flight.

One of the players identified for a transfer is Etebo, but Fenerbahce may swoop in and hijack a potential deal with a more favourable offer. The Turks are hoping to meet with Etebo during the international break, when the midfielder will join the Super Eagles for matches this month.

English media reports in January suggested that Arsenal were also watching the Nigerian player closely, but they decided against an approach at the time.

Now it appears that rivals Leicester and Fenerbahce are in pole position to attract the talents youngster who is capable of adding value to a variety of midfield formations.

Oghenekaro Etebo may speak to his fellow Nigerians

Before Etebo makes a decision on his future, he may opt to speak to his compatriots already with the Foxes in the Premier League to get a better idea of whether Leicester would suit him.

Ahmed Musa and Wilfred Ndidi have both joined the club this season, with mixed fortunes for Musa while Ndidi has enjoyed a great start to his time at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester also have Algerians Islam Slimani and African Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez on their books, as well as Ghanaian Daniel Amartey, so the club management are aware that African players have a tradition of doing well with the Foxes.

For this reason, Etebo may be an attractive acquisition for the Premier League side, if Fenerbahce do not move quickly to secure a transfer for the Nigerian starlet.
