The interest around the signature of Franck Kessie in recent months has been incredible, with numerous clubs in England making offers to lure the talent from Italian side Atalanta, but the Ivorian international midfielder has made it clear which club he would favour.
The January transfer market saw Kessie featuring as one of the most sought after players, but numerous offers were rejected by the club from Bergamo, including from rivals Roma and Juventus in Serie A.
London clubs Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur seemed to be frontrunners in the race to sign the 20-year-old, with Everton and Manchester City throwing their hat in the ring.
Chelsea and Arsenal both put forward £25 million offers for the player, but Atalanta refused to accept their bids before deadline day put a temporary end to the onslaught from clubs keen on signing the midfielder.
With six goals in 20 appearances for Atalanta so far this season, the hard-working player continues to generate interest, but the youngster revealed the club he would ideally love to join when quizzed about potential offers.
“I did not hear any rumours around Roma, as I was at the Africa Cup of Nations and so focused only on playing,” Kessie said, according to Tuttomercatoweb.
“I like the Premier League and in particular Manchester United, the club I dream of playing for. Chelsea? That is also a big club, nobody would turn them down, but I dream of United,” he admitted.
Atalanta may have managed to hold on to their starlet through a testing January market window, but they will not be able to keep him at the club beyond the end of the season, when some of his suitors will undoubtedly be making offers that the Italians simply cannot refuse.
If Manchester United happens to be one of the teams bidding for Kessie’s services, it appears that the decision will already have been made, at least, if the player himself weighs in on the matter.
