Yaya Toure Back To Manchester City First Team With A Bang

Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure returned to the Manchester City first team on Saturday to splendid effect, scoring two goals for his English Premier League club as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1.

The four-time African Player of the Year has been out of favour with coach Pep Guardiola during this season following a spat between the Spanish tactician and Toure’s controversial agent, Dimitri Seluk.

The 33-year-old was not aware that he would be left out of the 21-man squad for his club’s charge in the UEFA Champions League, and Toure’s agent described the situation as humiliating for his client.

Since then matters have escalated between Seluk and Guardiola, leading to Toure’s exile from the team, pending an apology from the agent.

Seluk refused to apologise, but Toure took matters into his own hands recently to apologise for the behaviour of his representative.

The experienced midfielder, who earns around $293,000 per week at the club, finally returned to the starting lineup for this past weekend’s match, and made the most of his opportunity with two fine finishes to prove that he still has a great deal to give at club level.

Toure may be added to Manchester City Champions League squad

Speaking after the fine display from Toure, coach Guardiola admitted that he would considering adding the Ivorian to his team’s Champions League squad in January, when new additions can be made.

“If we are able to qualify in the Champions League, I will sit with my staff and we will decide who are the best players to help us to achieve what we want in the Champions League,” Guardiola explained, according to TheGuardian.

“I’ve spoken many times in the last month with Yaya because he was my player with Barcelona, I know him very well. I know how he is as a player. As a player there is no doubt, if there was a doubt he would not be here. He is another guy to compete with our midfield players and increase our level,” the Spaniard added.

After the match players embraced Toure and fans rallied around their fallen hero, who has now re-entered the team and may once again prove to be a very important part of the Manchester City puzzle.
