VIDEO: Experiencing The Osun-Osogbo Festival

Osun-Osogbo is a sacred forest along the banks of the Osun River just outside the city of Osogbo in Osun State, Nigeria. The grove is among the last of the sacred forests where most Yoruba cities were built before urbanization. In recognition of its global significance and cultural value, the Sacred Grove became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005. Every August, the two-week-long Osun-Osogbo Festival attracts thousands of worshipers and tourists. In this video from Jolyon Hoff, you can see the intricate preparations, fabulous artwork, and cultural celebrations of this storied festival.
