Serge Aurier Returns From Injury In Time For Arsenal Clash

Paris Saint-Germain’s Ivorian defender Serge Aurier has confirmed that he will be available for selection in Tuesday night’s UEFA Champions League clash between PSG and English Premier League side Arsenal.

The Cote D’Ivoire international has struggled with injuries over the last few months, with a recent ankle problem keeping him out of the action for the start of the French Ligue 1 campaign.

The French champions welcome the north London club to Parc des Prince for the start of their Champions League campaign, and PSG coach Unai Emery’s first European match since taking charge of the club.

Having won the French league title consistently in recent seasons, the major objective of this season is to do well and challenge for the UEFA Champions League trophy, which has so far eluded the French outfit.

The new season has not been kind to Aurier’s club thus far, however, as a flurry of injuries to important players have meant that the team has struggled to gel, and they were often forced to use the depth in the squad to field a competitive side, though perhaps not their strongest selection due to unavailability of certain injured stars.

This makes Aurier’s return to action even more important for the club, as the tournament group stages kick off in fine style against strong English opposition.

The 23-year-old right-back missed a Ligue 1 assignment against Saint-Etienne recently, after injuring his ankle against Monaco, but he will now likely feature against Arsenal on Tuesday night.

The combative defender took to social media to reveal his readiness for the encounter, posting a photo of him smiling in training on Instagram with the words: “Come-back 😆🙏🏾#championsleague👊🏾 ⚽️🔴🔵”.

PSG coach Emery will be glad to have the star backline player available for a difficult match against the Gunners, with the two teams expected to emerge from their group and progress into the knockout stages of the competition.
