Growing Sports Tourism In Africa

South Africa hopes to position itself as a sports tourism destination and attract more revenue of the type generated by the three World Cup events it has hosted, according to a report in eTurboNews.com.

The Durban International Convention Center will be the venue for the Sports & Events Tourism Exchange in October, with 1,000-plus decision makers expected to visit from around the world.

Sports tourism is one of the fastest-growing areas of the global travel and tourism industry, benefiting hospitality, leisure, sport and tourism industries, the report said.

South Africa hosted the 2010 soccer,  2003 cricket and 1995 rugby World Cups.
