Real Madrid Through To Champions League Final

Real Madrid Through To Champions League Final

Real Madrid managed to earn their place in the 2016 UEFA Champions League final after securing a narrow 1-0 second leg semi-final victory over Manchester City at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

A deflected Gareth Bale shot was enough to see the Galacticos qualify for the final of Europe’s flagship competition, after a goalless first leg in Manchester opened up possibilities for the better side on Wednesday night to take advantage of the situation.

A 20th minute goal from Bale was the decider on the night, with Manchester City midfielder Fernando diverting the Welshman’s strike into his own net.

Citizens captain Vincent Kompany was not able to complete the game once again, as an injury forced him to leave the pitch early in the match. Goalkeeper Joe Hart was heroic on the night, saving numerous attempts from Cristiano Ronaldo and company to keep Man City in with a shout.

Madrid Derby in the Champions League final

The 1-0 aggregate victory ensures a Madrid Derby in the Champions League final, with rivals Atletico Madrid emerging from their semi-final on Tuesday night against Bayern Munich, benefiting from the away goals rule to move on to the title match despite a 2-2 aggregate score.

The final will take place on May 28 at the San Siro in Milan, Italy, with the two Spanish city rivals fighting it out to be crowned champions of Europe.
