English Premier League Trophy On Show In Cape Town

English soccer fans in Cape Town will be able to experience the top flight’s official fan park, Barclays Premier League Live in March, 2016.

The fan park will be held at the Camps Bay High School on 19 and 20 March, with entry to the event free of charge.

As part of the planned festivities, the Barclays Premier League Trophy will be on show for supporters to take photos with, while former EPL players will also be available for fans to mingle with.

Premier League matches will be screened live on a giant screen at the high school, which is capable of hosting crowds of up to 15,000 people, while a total of nine EPL clubs will be represented at the event in some form.

The EPL is incredibly popular in South Africa, with fans of the sport supporting a variety of English clubs. Amongst the most popular are Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea, while other teams also enjoy somewhat of a cult following in smaller numbers.

Track Record Of Success

The original football roadshow began in South Africa in April 2014, when it was hosted at Zoo Lake Sports Club in Johannesburg. Later in the year, another similar event was held in Mumbai, India, with over 30,000 fans taking part in the successful celebration of English club football.

“BPL Live is all about bringing the electrifying atmosphere of a Premier League match to our international fans,” said John Dykes, who will be hosting the event, according to the EPL website.

“The first ever BPL Live in Johannesburg reminded us just how passionate South African fans are about the Premier League. I can’t wait to see that the enthusiasm the Cape Town fans will bring to the park now that they’re getting their chance,” Dykes added.

South African fans who wish to attend should register at http://www.bpllive.com/ or by dialling *134*275# from a South African mobile phone. Entry will be granted on a first come, first served basis, but all fans must register before entering.
