Dunkin’ Brands Plans 250 Restaurants, 70 Baskin-Robbins In South Africa

Dunkin’ Brands announced a franchise agreement with Grand Parade Investments Limited to develop more than 250 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants and more than 70 Baskin-Robbins shops in South Africa over the coming years.

The initial focus will be on Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Grand Parade Investments is a Western Cape, black owned and controlled holding company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange Limited with investments and operations in the South African gaming and leisure industry.

Dunkin’ Brands is a U.S. restaurant holdings company which runs two chains of fast-food restaurants – Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins. Headquarters are in Canton, Massachusetts.

The agreement also calls Baskin-Robbins ice cream products to be introduced in South African supermarket chains and convenience stores in the next several years.

Dunkin’ Donuts is one of the world’s leading coffee and bakery chains, with more than 11,500 restaurants in 40 countries. South African restaurants will feature hot and iced coffees, lattes, espresso, cappuccino, teas, Coolatta frozen drinks, sandwiches, bagels, and donuts.

The brand will also offer regional menu items to cater to local tastes.

Baskin-Robbins is the world’s largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, with more than 7,600 locations in nearly 50 countries.

Ice cream shops in South Africa will feature ice cream cakes, frozen beverages, sundaes, and take-home treats.
