Arsenal Join Race For Dortmund Striker Aubameyang

Reports in England suggest that English Premier League club Arsenal are keen to secure the transfer of Gabon star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

It is no secret that the Gabon international is the target of a number of clubs in Europe due to his excellent form for his German club, but now Arsenal has been added to the list as a credible suitor for the 26-year-old.

Aubameyang has managed to score an incredible 27 goals in 26 appearances in all competitions over the course of the season thus far, ensuring his demand in the current transfer window.

Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal has proven to be a shrewd player in the transfer market in recent years, and reports in the Sun suggest that the Gunners are willing to make a $62 million offer for the Gabonese talent.

The player himself recently addressed speculation of a potential transfer away from Dortmund by saying that he is happy at the club and is still looking to test his limits.

An offer of that calibre is not likely to be ignored, however, and Arsenal, who are currently top of the table in the EPL, will be a serious contender to land Aubameyang’s services if the potential deal is verified.

The former AC Milan player could well be on his way to the Emirates Stadium in January if Wenger gets his way, further strengthening the North London side for their quest to capture the EPL title.

Aubameyang is one of the final three players in contention for the 2015 CAF African Player of the Year award, alongside Yaya Toure and Andre Ayew. The award will be presented at a gala event in Nigeria on Thursday, January 7.
