Cellulant Using Mobile Wallets To Empower Farmers Across Africa

From TechMoran

Cellulant, a digital payments’ service provider that prompts, collects, settles and reconciles payments in real time is using mobile wallets to empower farmers across Africa as well as powering transactions for millions of merchants and utility facilities across Africa.

“We ensure that both our partners and their customers are empowered by consistent and endless options that meet their needs at the local level,” Cellulant Kenya CEO Bryan Kariuki told TechMoran. “Our focus is and has always been about connecting customers to their money, when they want and for them to use it how they want it. We ensure that both our partners and their customers are empowered by consistent and endless options that meet their needs at the local level.”

Speaking to TechMoran, Kariuki said Cellulant has and continues to innovate with the varying products it bring to the market but also in the processes developed to accelerate growth and adoption of mobile payments. He said the firm recently invested in a set of proprietary tools which enable a bank to accelerate adoption of mobile banking from current levels of 3 – 10% of their customer base, to upwards of 40% within a 3 month timeframe, and towards 60% over a longer time horizon.

These tools make use of sophisticated analytics to profile customer groups based on aggregated behavioral data and suggest actions to drive individual customers to use the mobile banking channel.

“We continue to focus on an end user strategy, which balances our B2B customers and interaction with a dynamic and far reaching B2B2C interface which we believe will increase the adoption solutions by both bank and their customers,” Kariuki says. “This is done as we continue to partner with our current B2B customers to fulfil their very specific needs.”

Cellulant says it doesn’t have competitors but is in an ecosystem that has partners on all levels of this industry. It’s vision for the ecosystem is set on driving usability locally, with the use of its mobile products and in its offering of a variety of service to its customers be they banks, merchants or end customers.
