Manchester City’s Bony Bemoans ‘Worst Spell’ Of His Career

Manchester City’s Bony Bemoans ‘Worst Spell’ Of His Career

Manchester City’s Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony has admitted that he is currently going through the worst moment of his career in terms of a lack of form that is keeping him from contributing his best to the English Premier League club.

The Cote D’Ivoire international was honest about his struggles since joining the Citizens from Swansea City, revealing that his time at the club has been difficult.

He is yet to score this season, and has only managed to contribute two goals in 19 appearances for the Manchester club, with most of those seeing him come off the bench.

With coach Manuel Pellegrini now favouring a lone-striker approach, and Sergio Aguero’s form earning him selection ahead of Bony, this makes the Ivorian striker’s objective of getting more game time increasingly tedious.

Speaking to the Express Daily, Bony expressed his frustration at a period he describes as the worst of his career.

“A lot of crazy things have happened since I joined City and I’ve been ruled out with injury three or four times, so it’s been hard to find any rhythm playing one or two games here and there,” Bony explained.

“It’s been the worst spell of my career without question – in the past five years I’d never miss more than two games in a row and at Swansea I only missed a handful of matches, and that was mostly because of a red card I received,” the striker added.

“It’s not been the best time for me in that respect and has been very frustrating, but hopefully the City fans will now see the new Bony. All I need is the first goal to come and hopefully many others will follow,” he concluded.
