Chelsea Keen To Sign Algerian Yacine Brahimi

English Premier League club Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of Algerian playmaker Yacine Brahimi from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

The Algerian international has been in excellent form for his Portuguese club, and is believed to be on the radar of the Blues for a potential January move, at a time when the European transfer market window will reopen for business.

The 25-year-old may be considered a reinforcement for the London club, which has been struggling to find the same form that allowed them to become champions of England last season.

Jose Mourinho’s side have stumbled to only eight points from the first seven matches of the season, putting a serious dent in their title defence going forward, while clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, West Ham and Arsenal have done far better and are already in front with the red half of Manchester leading the table on 16 points.

According to reports from TMW, Chelsea are interested in the Fennec Foxes playmaker, but they will need to contend with a $67 million buyout clause, which is contained in his current Porto contract, if they are to secure his transfer from Portugal.

Porto added more misery to Chelsea’s season on Tuesday night when they defeated the Blues 2-1 in UEFA Champions League action in the Portuguese coastal city.

Algerian midfielder Brahimi was a doubt going into the game due to a knee problem that was bothering him, but he started the game and gave Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic problems throughout the encounter with his speed and skill, giving Mourinho a front seat to his abilities.

In defence Brahimi contributed a fine performance, winning back the ball on nine occasions, and displaying his quality in a match against his potential future club.
