Aston Villa Closing In On Barcelona’s Adama Traore

Barcelona’s Adama Traore seems set to join English Premier League club Aston Villa after flying to Birmingham in order to complete a medical.

The player has been linked to Liverpool and Stoke City in recent months, but the 19-year-old is now closing in on signing a contract that will see him featuring in the Premier League.

According to The Telegraph, the Spanish winger of Malian descent flew to Birmingham on Wednesday in order to complete final negotiations with the club, and undergo a medical.

The report suggests that a fee of $11 million will be paid to Barcelona for the capture of the young striker, who will find fellow Africans Jordan Ayew (Ghana), Rudy Gestede (Benin) and Idrissa Gueye (Senegal) at Villa Park, having all joined during the transfer market window.

The Aston Villa squad has gone through a revolution during the last two months, adding numerous new players to the club, and if Traore signs on the dotted line at Villa, he will become the side’s tenth signing of the current transfer window.

Barcelona’s youth academy is famous for its success in producing players of great quality, and Traore is considered one of the best players produced in recent years, with the Spanish Under-19 international set to sign a three-year deal if the medical is passed and final details are agreed upon.

Aston Villa take on Manchester United on Friday night in Premier League action, and Traore could possibly be available for selection for that match if the deal is completed by then.
