Mohamed Salah Pleased To Have Joined Roma

Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah is pleased to have completed a loan deal to join Serie A giants Roma from English Premier League side Chelsea.

The season-long loan sees the Egypt international return to Italian football ahead of the new campaign. Salah was on loan at Fiorentina from Chelsea since January, and did well at the club, but despite the efforts of the Viola to bring him back to the club, Salah decided to make his move to the capital.

He made an immediate impact on Fiorentina’s efforts in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League, scoring six strikes in 16 top flight appearances, while setting up three goals for his team-mates. He contributed a further two goals in cup matches.

The 23-year-old’s loan deal at the Viola came to an end with the conclusion of last season, and now he returns to the Italian top flight to represent their rivals from Rome.

Speaking about his decision to choose Roma, Salah explained that his time at Fiorentina was useful, but Roma would produce new objectives for him.

“My experience with them (Fiorentina) was useful. I spent six months at my best with my family, but that period is over,” he told FootballItalia.

“I had the right to choose and that’s why I’m at Roma now. Montella was a good coach but I’m a professional and I give my best with him and with other coaches alike,” Salah confessed.

“I was doing fine in Florence, I made the most out of my time there. I’m in Rome to continue on my path and reach some new objectives,” he added.

Roma played a friendly match against Valencia on Saturday, and Salah took the opportunity to score a goal on his debut for the club, contributing the opening strike in a 3-1 victory.

Speaking to Roma TV after the game, Salah explained: “How do I feel about the goal? It was only a friendly. I’ll be happy when I score in Serie A and the Champions League.”

“It was a good game, we got off to a strong start and scored two goals,I am satisfied with my performance, as it was my first game and I hadn’t played for a while. Next time I hope to play for longer,” he revealed.

“I can say that I’m happy and proud to be teammates with Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi. My preferred position? I can operate in any of the front three positions as I did today when I played through the middle, on the right and left,” he concluded.
