Mourinho Gives Blessing For Salah Departure

Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho has revealed that he believes Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah’s future lies in another team, suggesting that the young talent would have his blessing to leave the London club in search of another team.

Salah has been on loan at the Florence-based club from English Premier League champions Chelsea since January. He made an immediate impact on the Italian side’s efforts in Serie A, the Coppa Italia and the Europa League.

In the Italian top flight Salah scored six strikes in 16 appearances, while setting up three goals for his team-mates. In another two cup games he contributed a further two goals.

The 23-year-old’s loan deal came to an end with the conclusion of the season, and his future is still unsure at this point.

Fiorentina seemed to be close to a deal a few weeks ago, but nothing was made official and now Roma seems to be the leading contender for his signature, with the club from the capital sending representatives to London this past weekend in order to agree a deal for Salah, according to Gazetta Dello Sport.

With regards to the Egyptian’s future, Mourinho commented to ChelseaTV that Salah no longer features in his current plans.

“I see his future elsewhere. Either as a loan or an offer that we are happy to accept. At the moment with [Eden] Hazard and Willian, [Bertrand] Traore, [Victor] Moses and [Juan] Cuadrado, we have five players for these positions. It’s better not to have so many,” Mourinho told his club’s official television channel.

Many clubs have shown interest in the talented striker, including the likes of Fiorentina, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Roma, Wolfsburg, Atletico Madrid, and Liverpool.
