Fortune, a global business magazine published by Time, Inc. is known for its annual features ranking companies by revenue. The December 2012 Issue and CNN Money featured Moguldom Media Group’s CEO, Jamarlin Martin, for its “David vs. Goliath” column which compares small businesses to the likes of their industry giants. Usually the larger companies dominate their markets, but Moguldom proves that there is always room for more.

In this particular piece, MMG was compared to BET (Viacom) and their challenge was to take on a company that accorded a great deal of respect to grab a share of the African-American media audience.

Stay tuned for more big things in store for Jamarlin Martin and Moguldom Media Group.

Senior Editor for Bossip, Janeé Bolden was in the “Anderson Live” audience as “Blogger of the Day”.

In case you didn’t see the episode yourselves, here’s what Janeé had to say about it:

“It was a real joy taking a little break from the gossip blogging to live tweet for Anderson Live today — but it turns out I still got my celebrity fix. I have to give Anderson and guest host Nancy Grace credit for calling my attention to talk of Jay-Z and Beyoncé and other stars partying it up this week in NYC while many other residents were still without heat and power. We don’t miss much when it comes to that couple so it was a great talking point to kick off the show.

Of course Hurricane Sandy dominated much of the discussion, with Anderson and Nancy weighing in that perhaps now might not be the best time for NYC to go forward with the NY marathon. I threw the question out to our Twitter followers and many suggested that we have the runners volunteer toward recovery efforts rather than race, while the majority of responses agreed that the marathon should be rescheduled.

I had the honor of having a dressing room next to Glitzy the Pig’s, so like Anderson I also had a chance to meet Honey Boo Boo’s former pet. Anderson showed a lot more bravery than I did though, because he actually held that thing! And long enough for it to stop squealing…

I also enjoyed seeing Real Housewives of Atlanta cast members Phaedra Parks and Porsha Stewart. Phaedra managed to get a little shameless self promotion in for her side hustles doing a fitness video and running a mortuary business. When I tweeted the name of the workout DVD (Donkey Booty) some of the responses were pure comedy. I’m not sure Phaedra will live up to her goal of becoming the Vera Wang of funerals but she’s definitely proven she has some entertainment value.

Thanks again to Anderson Live for having me! I hope to be back soon.”

You can watch the episode HERE if you missed it!

MediaPost.com, a media, marketing and advertising site providing news, blogs and directories featured Moguldom in their Mobile Marketing Daily OnSwipe: Tablet Use Meteoric for Partner Moguldom’s African-American Audiences article. It discusses the growth rates associated with mobile and tablet traffic increasing over the last year. Moguldom partnered with OnSwipe, its tablet platform, and witnessed access growth of 6000% between November 2011 and June 2012. In fact, fashion site StyleBlazer is seeing 3.5 million page views (June 2012) now coming to its site just from iPads each month, approaching 10% of its 48 million monthly impressions.

Moguldom Media Group Chairman and CEO Jamarlin Martin says that the rapid adoption of tablets and strong usage patterns among African American audiences extends the trends already evident in smartphone use.

“With a tablet device, there is a larger screen, an improved user experience for most completed mobile activities and makes the content easily accessible,” he says.

OnSwipe started over a year ago offering publishers a way to reformat their Web content in ways that were touch-friendly and more attractive on tablets.

According to its founder Jason Baptiste, designing Web sites specifically for tablets has dramatic effect on their use.

Baptiste says demand for tablet advertising is increasing quickly, and his platform - which controls the user experience - is in a position to deliver unique ad formats and experiences.

“People use tablets most to browse. Publishers’ scale comes through search and sharing and going to links in emails, and that is still true on the tablet. “When he goes into meetings with publishers, talk about apps just doesn’t come up as much anymore.

Digiday, a media company and community for professionals who work in the digital media, marketing and advertising industry, reached out to Moguldom for our expertise in their Publishers Tap Content Marketing for Audience Growth article. It discusses publishers as not only being sellers but also buyers, seeing these links (informing you of content elsewhere on the Web) as fuel for quick audience growth and a cheap source of traffic for expensive content areas, like video.

“The publishers who get paid discovery will be the ones who move the needle,” said Jamarlin Martin, CEO of Moguldom Media Group, a network of sites centering on African-Americans. “In this environment, it doesn’t make sense for a publisher to wait five years to build a brand or three years for a site to generate $1 million. If you’re a publisher and want to grow fast, you want to understand paid discovery and make the economics work for you.”

comScore Highlights 4 Million Unique Visitor Traffic Surge for StyleBlazer.com, the World’s Premier Fashion Digital Brand For Women of Color

August 13, 2012 – New York, NY – The newly published July comScore report revealed that Moguldom Media Group has once again beat out its competitor, Interactive One (Nasdaq: ROIAK; ROIA), as the world’s largest network of owned and operated digital brands focusing on African Americans. comScore, a leading digital measurement company, reported that Moguldom’s five digital properties received over 7 million unique visitors in July. StyleBlazer.com saw the highest growth of 4,564 percent to become the No. 1 fashion website for women of color. StyleBlazer’s traffic doubled to 4 million unique visitors and 56 million page views since June, surpassing the reach of competing brands Essence.com (Time Warner) and HelloBeautiful.com (Interactive One) combined. These websites only reported 795,000 and 797,000 unique visitors, respectively.

The company also announced a 150 percent surge in revenue over the past 12 months. This year marks the seventh consecutive year of continued, rapid growth since the company’s launch in 2006. The company’s expansion includes the addition of major Fortune 500 advertisers such as Procter & Gamble, Ford Motor Company and NBCUniversal, Inc.

“Moguldom’s success stems from our innovative model of reaching our audience through the triple threat impact of online, mobile and social integration,” said Jamarlin Martin, founder and chief executive officer, Moguldom Media Group. “We know how to meaningfully engage our audience through authentic, relevant content across today’s multi-channel landscape.”

Moguldom’s employee count grew by 55 percent, and the company added a fourth office in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The company now has offices in New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale.

Through the company’s digital properties that include Bossip, Madame Noire, StyleBlazer, Hip Hop Wired and 24Wired.TV, Moguldom’s brands reach a total of 112MM page views per month. Other individual online brand destinations reported record growth:

Madame Noire grew 133.1 percent to become the No. 1 African American lifestyle website

Bossip continues its dominance as the No. 1 African American pop culture website across the iPad platform with an average growth of 200 percent over the past 6 months

Launched in 2006 with a $6 domain name purchase, Martin saw that there was a gap in the market for an African American publisher that reached a new generation of consumers. He also saw the power of niche-focused online publishing. African Americans have $1 trillion in buying power and the highest consumption rate of mobile/online video compared to other ethnicities. Moguldom was named the No. 1 digital network of owned and operated African American websites – as measured by comScore reach in 2011. Because all content is owned and there are multiple brands touching a variety of African American audiences, many Fortune 500 companies and advertising firms are attracted to Moguldom. From sponsoring an online web series to a Facebook engagement building campaign, Moguldom can efficiently scale an advertising campaign across social, video, and mobile channels, responding to advertiser needs in real-time.
