Some Refreshing Excitement from Yahoo! We Love This
Looks like Yahoo! is adding a little youth to its leadership with the announcement of their new CEO, Marissa Mayer. Mayer, 37, who was Google’s 20th employee and most “visible” executive, has the digital space excited and surprised by her new gig. Although she has no “real CEO experience” and is about 7 months pregnant, Yahoo! (whom TechCrunch calls the ‘Internet’s Chaotic Purple Dinosaur’) chose Marissa Mayer from a batch of industry execs, including their interim CEO Ross Levinsohn because they feel she can handle the job and bring a sort of “freshness’ to the brand. We of course are speculating a bit here but…
Here’s a breakdown of Marissa’s new challenges:
- Transitioning Yahoo! from the “Internet’s Chaotic Purple Dinosaur” to being serious competition for the Silicon Valley big dogs
- Reorganization of Yahoo! leadership
- Innovate! Innovate! Innovate!
Challenges aside, Yahoo!’s decision to bring another woman CEO to lead their pack is quite refreshing and we’re excited to she what she can do for the brand.
